Okay, I know what I am getting myself into with this thread. I am most prob going to be hated or made fun of and I really was not going to say anything on the matter of Ronaldo but I decided I should just stand up and speak my mind because that is why we are all on here, correct?

Okay so Iv been reading heaps of stuff on various forums and sites and have heard many United fans talk...lets say 90-95% hate Ronaldo's guts at the moment...well I beg to differ and to be honest I still love him heaps and his still my favorite player.

Has anyone noticed the amounts of stuff which have been misquoted recently? Or they take half the quote and just cut it off? You know the typical media telling us the half truth trick..? Tevez's quotes? Fergie's quotes? Its funny also when the FA wanted to charge Querioz and Fergie after the Pompey FA Cup loss at OT they couldn't because the media had misquoted them..

Relying on the media as your only source of information is wrong imo and I do not believe everything I read. Maybe some people should open there eyes a little more and not be fooled by the media so easily. I used to have this thing of believing 100% in quotes BUT after this summer I really have to reconsider that...I believed the Berbatov bid quotes 100% but then it comes out some Man Utd fans overexaggerated and just added Berbatov's name where as some other reliable sources say it was a "Mystery Bid" and Fergie did not say who it was...and that is why Fergie said it is going to be embarrasing for Spurs who are lodging a complaint on false misquoted stuff :p

What I am basically trying to say is; the day Ronaldo comes out say like in a video conference (like our Hargreaves did 2 summer's ago with Bayarn) and state clearly: "I want to move. I want to join Real Madrid." that will be when I stop loving him with all my heart and I will search for a new favourite player. Yes there was that amazing brazilian article which quoted Ronaldo saying that he wants to move to Real Madrid which I think had no proof or evidence or video footage to back it up and just wanted to be popular but it is not reliable and I still am waiting for something official and like with video footage. Yeah I saw/heard all of those only god knows stuff but that is just him being cheeky. Its a nice way of saying *f off media - its my buisness and stop bothering me about it*.

What I do believe in is that interview which I saw with my own eyes after the CL Final when he said "I will stay. Why would I want to leave.." There were reports that he made up his mind before the CL final on what he wanted to do and guess what people...he said he wanted to stay after the CL final!!! That was from his own mouth - not media bullcrap!!

I am just starting to get a little annoyed by the Ronaldo haters...yeah there is that whole slave thing and Blatter is just awful really but Ronaldo did never say he IS A SLAVE and you never know what he really said because it could be false, misquoted, or just translated wrong like Tevez.

What did people think when we signed him? That he will remian at OT all his life? Pfft please. I knew the frist day he played that he will f off to a another foreign club for bucket loads of cash one day. He is not your Neville, Scholes, Giggs etc...That was my sister's reason for me not getting Ronaldo on my kit 2 seasons back because shes like you do realise he will leave like Heinze did one day most prob (she had a Heinze kit lmao she peeled off the name and number haha).

All in all, I am 99% sure he will be our player next year and I still love him. I am still waiting for 100% reliable media conference type of proof but untill then I can't wait till he recovers and puts on that Man United shirt again :) The closest we have gotten to full proof media conference type of answer is when Fergie said he had a meeting with him and HE WILL BE STAYING and never handed a transfer request and never said he wanted out and wants to go to Real Madrid this summer.
Please people, be nice about the critisism towards me :(

I am surprised that Ronaldo wants to leave us.If he wants to go let him go to hell and we see what he will do in madrid.I stongly agree that he is a good player and would even become a best player if he remains at Old Traford. But if he wants to go, let him go and we can do without him.Am sure we can do more wonders even if Ronaldo left.
But My desire is to keep him..:(
I wouldn't say I love Ronaldo. I have much greater feeling for players like Neville, Scholes and Giggs but I agree with what you are saying.

The press, basically, talk a lot of bull plop. I learnt a long time ago that you have to take everything they print in their sports pages with a pinch of salt.

I, like Jazz, never thought he would actually leave the club because he is tied down to a contract and this 'every player has his price' concept is not true with the biggest clubs in the World, like United. (Would Barca sell Messi at any price?)

I'll be singing Viva Ronaldo at Old Trafford next season and I think that, as long as he shows he's still motivated to play for United, the Old Trafford faithful will soon forgive him.

Yes it is true...if he wants to go I guess we should let him go.

But my point is I am not 100% convinced he wants to go this summer. He did say he wants to play "one day" for Real Madrid but Beckham also said that and Tevez is saying that about Boca Juniors and VDS said that about returning to Holland. My point is that "one day" quote is being overexaggerated and the media/Real Madrid are just trying to unsettle him. Real Madrid said they will not lodge a bid untill we put him up for sale and till date they have not lodged a single bid because Man United put a hands off warning. Unless the club wants him to leave I doubt he will be sold. He did sign a contract last summer so yeah maybe he does want to stay here. I think next summer he will leave.
no.7 should have been banned after beckham
its a shame that a player like ronaldo
wears a shirt that have the number of the greatest players ever Eric Cantona , Robson , Best and Beckham

Shut up Abo, if you're going to post crap like that then don't post at all.

Sparkic has taken a lot of time to put together that post so you
should appreciate members like him who put the effort in and don't
just post random crap like you do.
I have no doubt in my mind that Ronaldo wants to play for Madrid. He confessed to this years ago.

I also think that if United were wiling to sell he would have gone this summer. However, he is a professional footballer and I'm sure Fergie explained the responsibilities that come with signing a long-term contract when they met earlier this summer.

As football fans the passion we feel for our club can be overwhelming but we must understand that not all the players we support, whilst at the club, also feel this way. Ronaldo has strong ties with Lisbon (hence him not celebrating when he scored against them last season) and has dreamed of playing for Madrid since he was a child. I understand that but will continue to support him whilst he plays for Man United.

I don't think so...if we adopted this retiring the number idea we most prob would of retired it after Best and then we would never have the other no 7 greats after him!

I understand where you are coming from but isn't that statement a little to harsh? I mean would you of said that when he was scoring 42 goals last season? I don't think you were thinking this when he scored that header vs Chelsea in the CL final. Please do not forget what he has done for us in the past and just let media talk which has no solid proof make you hate him
i appreciate what sparkic have done :)
a really great post ;) but about a crappy player who doesnt deserve anything

Agreed.

A good thought-provoking post from Sparkic imo and I think it's worth discussing.

Well I was just reading all these hater stuff and like I just did not feel the same way...I still wear my Ronaldo 7 top with pride and when ever someone says oh his moved to Real Madrid that is when I go nuts  Its amazing how non football fans get so misinformed easily via the media.

I got a call from my mum last week who said that she'd just been watching TV and had seen on the local news that Madrid and Man United had agreed a 65 million deal for Ronaldo.

On the news!!!

I frantically started checking teletext and websites on my phone and didn't find anythind. The next day the media were reporting that United were refusing to sell and no deal would go through

EXACTLY! My god how many txts I get everyday like random mates saying "Oh I heard Ronaldo left Man Utd" I get out of class just to go on the net in the library checking each site 100 times! I hate the media for doing this!

Well said Sparkic i agree with everything you have said, i have wanted ronnie to stay all along and believed he would. Have said to many various people to stop believing everything they read in the papers. i only listen to what comes out of the horses mouth cant wait to watch him score many more great goals 4 us next season
Great post Sparkic...

...however I don't agree with it. That's not saying that you've not made a good
point, your entitled to your view.

I just have lost a huge amount of respect for him and the most annoying factor of
all to me is the one that "he" wore that number of the Busby Babes on the derby
game against City and he acts like this after! It's so incredibly disrespectful and
cruel to the players over the years who cherished that number...Best, King Eric,
Robbo an becks all gave it 100% an held the highest regard for their jersey.

This Portuguese money grabber is playing a very coy game and its all in a bid to
weasel money from anywhere. As for next season, I simply won't be lauding praise
on him even if he scores a hat-trick in every game. Football is about playing a
game made up where yo enjoy yourself, play as a team, respect your teammates
and aim for glory. Te last on that list is the only one that applies to Mr. Money
Grabber. The Irish members here may say that I'm listening to Eamon Dunphy too
much and he probably has had an effect on me. But however much I try to ignore
it, it just keeps coming back to me the things he says about this "wonder kid".
One major problem I have with him and always did was the arrogance he has,
almost Henry like the way he scores and looks around an shapes a smug look
on his face and makes it all about him, just makes me wish the camera will cut
view to the bench or the other players.

There's the on field things that annoy me and then there's the off field ones too.
Champions League, who was the only one to stay on the ground and not run and
cheer with his team and jump on the man who ended that dreaded shoot-out?
Why be different? When the team lifts the trophy, he seems to hang on and not
want to let it go. You have it for a year at least ffs, you'll get plenty of blooming
photos with it! Same with the league, Giggsy completes a truly magnificent
landmark and when the streamers and such go off, who's the first one down to
try and get hold of it? Another case of this is the viewing on the plane as they
touch down in Manchester. I'm sure everyone here if not most of the people here
saw the pictures on Sky and other stations of the players leaving the plane with
the two trophies and the photo that followed where they were all lined up on the
staircase thingy. 99% of that team were well dressed in their suits and all looked
like one. But the "worlds best player" decided, "**** it, I want to get the
attention and be seen by everyone!", as he leaned on the arm rail in a crisp white
shirt amongst the rest of the black jackets and ties for the photo. Then the most
disgraceful bit was his shoes. All white ones as he walked off following the lads
in front in their black shoes all uniting as one.

I could stay here all day and type numerous things that have really come to the
fore over the last few weeks and reasons why I'm not liking him now. Teammates
now are even wanting him gone. Tevez, "Let [Him] Go To Real".

My current view and a view which I will stand by, let him go and take the money
where we can invest in the future!

SELL SELL SELL!

Edit:

Found a decent video higlighting the point I made abou him standing out from the
team
