and about the red card, i dun exactly know what happen, but i assume it is normally a yellow card for protesting too much, did he do something to the ref?

I know arguing with the ref will be yellow card for dissent.....

I imagine he must have grabbed hold of the ref.....

This is the only way to get the red card.....

He obviously let rip at Styles big time.
He was obviously mightly frustated after a poor display.
In a perverse way Im kind of glad he was sent off because
he was able to receive a great ovation from the crowd.
Its a pity for him that he will miss 3 games but he was silly for
lambasting the ref. At 6-0 down what was the point?

His an idiot. why would you make such a fuss with 30 seconds left to go AND your team is 6-0 down. i would have understood it had it been 0-0 or they were up by a goal and by tevez scoring it would have cost them points. but it wasn't they were already 5-0 down. what's one more goal? now the idiot has to miss 3 games.

i was happy to see him at Ot,but dissapionted aht he had to get sent off.It was probably fate that he was the one that got sent off and got the standing ovation out of all the newcastle players.

smith is useless. no goals in 22 for them and half them up front. don't know why united fans love him. didn't even clap the fans when he went off. useless player thank god he is gone.

dont say that please. His altitude was one of the best in the team and he never gave up.

Hes just been sent off his team are 6-0 down do you really think clapping the united fans is appropiate??
If it was a United player clapping the opposition if we were in that situation i would be furious with him

Smith didn't touch the ref - I think he got sent off for foul and abusive language.

Both Smith and Butt had their names chanted by the home fans during the game. Smith may not have acknowledged the fans by clapping but I was sat near the tunnel and saw him glance round appreciatively as we applauded him and chanted his name as he walked off the pitch.

all this 100% crap does my head in. why does everyone use this. i'm sure bellion and djemba djemba gave 100% but they like Smith were useless.

Sorry lads thats my opinion. Not even good enough to be in the Prem.

because its HIS opinion. We can agree or disagree but telling someone to **** off or calling them a cnut is far worse, and is unacceptable behaviour for this forum.
Just be careful what you all say in future.

I think the red card for smithy is a bit too harsh tbh. I dont understand why some people make big fuss over all that he did that day. Knowing the ever passionate Smithy, so its ok if he is passionate when playing for us but not for others huh?

If anything, it just show his character, no matter where hes at, it didnt change, he still give his all be it playing against his ex team or not. Thats the smithy we all always knew. Try applauding the fans when you are walking back to the dug out after being send off & when your team is losing 6-0, see if any of us can do that. According to a friend of mine who are at the stretty, during the warm up, smithy did applauded the fans & vice versa infact he even sign autograph for some of them. Not that bad after all huh.

I don't think the Newcastle fans would have been too happy if Smith had applauded the Man United fans as he walked down the tunnel!

Do you remember the stick Steve Bruce got from the Birmingham fans when he waved at the Stretford End?

hang on a sec. no one knows wat he said I think we should trust the ref that he made the right decision. not only that mr commitment gets a 3 match suspension in the 90th minute when his team are 6-0 down.
