Theres a petition here set up by a lad who is fighting for allowing standing back in football games...

Football stadia have improved dramatically in the near 20 years since the tragic Hillsbourough disaster.
I am in no way being insensitive and felt the grief with the rest of the nation.

However, I have a petition live with the Prime Minister to bring back limited, well controlled terracing at football grounds:

My Reasons:

1. Technology can ensure no overcrowding
2. Will bring back fans priced out of the game when all-seater stadia were bought in.
3. Will increase atmosphere at what I can only describe as sterile at some grounds.
4. People will be able to socialise in group of friends.

The Taylor report concluded that "there was nothing intrinsically unsafe with terracing"

Mrs Thatcher disagreed with this and insisted all on seater stadia.

If you, like me, feel it is time to introduce some areas for standing at football grounds, my petition link to 10, Downing street is below:

Thanks, regardless of your stance.

...So I said I'd pass the link on for any who wish to sign the petition.

So the link is here -- http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/footballstand/

and you decide if you'd like to vote... :)

yeah signed. i sign these whenever they come up. away games are a prime example of how standing works perfectly. in standing areas, prices could be lowered and more fans let in.
doubt anything will happen though

Nothing will come of it but signed regardless.

Theres nothing dangerous about standing. The problem was too many people in the stadium/stand/one area. Of course, we need seating as some people prefer seats and we need to cater for as many as people.

But people should be allowed to stand if they wish.

I've lost count of the number of petitions I've signed regarding standing in games and nothing has ever happened. Still, no harm in signing another one.
