Pardon the sensationalist topic title, but its the best title that fits.

My colleagues and I were discussing the Liverpool games yesterday and somehow the conversation turned to Tevez and I suddenly heard: "He's not good enough for Man Utd; they should sell him!".

Before I knew it, I was the only one defending Carlos Tevez and I'm really baffled by this. My colleagues are real football fans, who have been watching football for as long as I have and in some cases for even longer.

This really got me thinking.

To me this guy is class. It's like having a second Wayne Rooney in the team. He runs tirelessly, has great vision and has scored some vital goals already vs Chelsea and against Spurs. How about his goal against Wigan when he was put through by Anderson? I thought that goal to be very classy.

He might not be a pretty boy like Torres or be able to finish from distance like Torres or Benzema , but his tenacity is great and that is something worth gold.

The arguments were that his finishing is not great, he lacks natural fitness, as well as pace, Man Utd already have a player in a similar mould in Rooney, but Rooney's better, Tevez isn't worth his touted price tag and supposed 90k a week wage and someone even said he seems to be a disruptive force on the pitch?!?!

So I would like to know what other fans think of Carlos Tevez, because I think he's class and at 23 he's going to get even better.

i love tevez all the way, but as for united to be a world club, they collect an budget for players in the end of each season. If you look at the positions that are most changed its the midfielders and the strikers, nani-carrick-anderson-hargreaves-ronaldo, idont think it will change.

Saha ( always injuryd ) tevez and rooney, this is a little bit tricky, as for united this season they have had problems scoring with millions of chances and therefore i suppose SAF will look after a genuine striker who knows how to make a goal.

And so on Tevez will probably make way for some other hot strikes in a few years. there is no need for him to feel comfortable to the bench forward on, because we can put out a lot of options of teams out on the field, but he wont remain in our " best XI " in a few years.

Tevez is class. I love him. I would get his kit BUT I think his going to get rid of 32 soon lol He had a good 1st season at United and is going to improve heaps over the years and is commited to United and how could you go wrong with having 2 rooneys? His vital goals saved us loads this season like Spurs, Lyon away goal, Chelsea, Birmingham (1-0 win only), liverpool away (agin 1-0) and his goals are rare but he scores them when it matters the most and that is what we call a genuine match winner. We don't need a Torres who is only world class vs west ham and can score you bucket loads vs crap teams when they are winning comfortably but instead we need a fighter who will not give up till the final whistle and will do all his best and that is what we have in Tevez. Yes we need a clinical striker at United because at the moment Rooney can't finish and Tevez isn't the clincial type but yeah that does not mean we do not need Tevez. Tevez can also score free kicks like he did for west ham and penalties which are a bouns. Your mates unfortunatly do not watch him enough because without him this season we would not be sitting on first place atm.

Hey boy, he is the reason why West Ham is still in the EPL... So to have such a player in our team is God Bless. Does your friends actually know about soccer or they are just looking for some pretty boys on the pitch. At least he's better looking then Lescott... (No offence to any fans of him)

And honestly I have yet to see any Argentine that flop in Europe. By the way, he's been scoring alot of crucial goals for United this season. Which I think this thread is rather redundant.

Exactly - how can you go wrong with two Rooneys? We just need to a tall, clinical striker to complete the trio. Saha could be that guy, but for his injuries.

Fergie, bring on the Hunter!

AS for Tevez not taking free kicks, I really think SAF or Quieroz should have a word with Ronnie and get him to let Tevez or Nani try from closer range when it's too close for him like Hargreaves vs Fulham. That Tevez free kick vs Bolton last season was very yummy.

Tell your friends ...

The other 'football fans' ...

To stop talking nonsense ...

I will!

Except maybe for my Italian colleague from Milan. He;s been in a bad mood for the past few weeks.

Wonder why Tevez doesn't get much love from neutrals. Maybe they don't watch him often enough.

Tevez has had an outstanding first season with us.

He already has a good understanding with Rooney and has scored numerous vital goals for us. Goals against Chelsea, Liverpool, Lyon, Spurs (might have been an own goal) and Birmingham (the winner in that dire 1-0 win on New Years Day) to name but a few will be crucial for us this season.

He works tirelessly and often drops back into midfield to win back the ball or to give us extra presence in the middle of the park. He's had to be rested at times this season because we've had limited options up front, with Saha being constantly injured, and he had no pre-season because of the Copa America and the transfer saga but that is not his fault.

I love Tevez as well.

What has surprised me is that SAF has left him out of the starting 11 for a number of important games recently....Sir Alex knows infinitely more than I do. I wonder if Tevez will be happy with that role in the future...

And what will happen if (and when) we get Berbatov or someone else of his ilk?

And I do have Tevez's kit!

He's just giving him a rest when possible. He is very tired you know. He himself said, he is only playing at 70-80 % of what he is capable of.

Not going to add anything else. My view is the same as everyone else. Tevez is awesome.
