NO! Claude Makelele (pictured) was not the first player in 120 years of football to play in the holding midfield role, so stop making out like he was.

True, there have been plenty of holding midfielders, but to be fair Makelele did create that very specific way of playing as a defensive midfielder that wasn't really used much before him.
