With Ronaldo having previously been on 28 league goals for the season his brace today against the Hammers had brought him up to 30 LEAGUE goals. I've lost track again of how many that is altogether but I'm sure somebody will remind me.:) The question I want to know is who was the last person to score 30 premier league goals in a single season in the Premiership? I'm not talking about a total goals tally, just league goals. My first thought was Henry but I'm not certain, just going on reputation really. Next I remembered all that fuss Chelsea kicked up last season about Drogba being the first blues player to notch 30 goals in a season but that was a total goals tally, right? Including Champions League & FA Cup etc. So I'd like to hear from anyone who knows who last scored 30 goals in the league. Incidentally I guess this means the ESM Golden Shoe is all but in Ronaldo's pocket, another individual award his trophy cabinet must look obnoxious.:p

Also I read an article about Scholes by Jamie Redknapp, standard bum kissing routine, great passing, vision etc. It's a good article though, link here, and I found one particular quote I really liked and found incisive. I'll leave you with that quote.

Alan Shearer once scored 31 league goals in a season.
Kevin Phillips has scored 30, as has Andy Cole and there
is one more who I can't remember off the top of my head.
None of them were wingers though ;)

Ronaldo has one league game left to play in and I fancy
him banging in one more to equal Shearer's record or even
beat it against Wigan.

Ronaldo is now on 40 goals in total by the way :)

Henry, Phillips, Cole, Sherear and now Ronaldo have reached 30 league goals in the EPL...Sherear with the most goals with 31 while playing for Blackburn...I do think Ronaldo can match or even beat it because he did score a brace vs Wigan already at OT this season!

Has Ruud ever got 30 EPL? I would have thought so.

Golden boot isn't assured yet, and there's a guy in the Welsh premier thats scored > 40 goals, but won't be considered because of the ranking of their league, although if I went down that league, my mate in pub football has over 50 goals this season, so..! Let's stick to the real golden boot, eh?

Zuco may slate me for being repetitive about players, but heres info.

Both Andy Cole and Alan Shearer have both scored 34 goals in a season. Andy Cole in 93/94 for Newcastle, and Shearer for Blackburn in 94/95. Kevin Phillips was the Premier League top scorer in the 1999-2000 season with 30 goals for Sunderland, and he then went on to win the Golden Boot for the whole of Europe in that season. Funnily enough, Ruud's highest amount of Prem goals in one season was 25, set in 2002/2003

And I think Scholes either mis-times his tackles by accident or is just to lazy to time them properly :p. He can actually tackle really well when he wants to.
