United have rarely gambled on South American players in the past. We've been
stung by players like Veron while the club's first Brazilian signing, Kleberson,
didn't live up to expectations.

But, this season, players like Anderson and Tevez have proved that South
Americans can make it at Old Trafford.

Their success may have paved the way for the arrival of more compatriots from
across the Atlantic with the club announcing that 18 year-old Rodrigo Possebon
has joined us from Brazilian club Internacional.

With a description of ‘a tall, athletic holding midfielder', he sounds like someone in
the Patrick Viera mould.

Possebon's arrival takes the tally of Brazilians to four at the club with Anderson
and another pair of teenage compatriots Fabio and Rafael also joining from
Fluminese last month.

Let us know if you think the Latin connection is the way forward or if it's safer to
recruit players from Europe.

South American players are a lot more value for money that is for sure.

Also, about Veron and Kleberson, they were not young like Anderson, Fabio, Rafael and Rodrigo are, so they couldnt be molded to the English game.

If we are recruiting from abroad I dont think it matters where they are from.
To succeed at United you need to be a certain type of player i.e an amazing player. Its nice to have a few Samba boys in our team.
I also believe it will then pave the way for more to come in the future.
When Ronaldihno was meant to come to United all those years ago,
would he have been more inclined to come if there had been more brazilians/South Americans there? I think probably.....

I think Ronaldinho was gonna come, United had offered 25 mill but PSG wanted 26, (Dr. Evil) Kenyon said no and Barca swooped in for the kill. For the sake of 1 million that's pathetic.

I think its good to have players from abroad, (not like Arsenal, no Englishmen), and these two twins are suposed to be real quality! There must be some serious scouting work at OT, and long may it continue!

I see no reason why not. South America is an untapped Gold-mine, and on the rare occasion, you might actually find a diamond amongst them. Although sometimes it might not be a great idea to bring them here at such a young age, when they need to develop a little more.

I'd still rather see more British players however.
