For that argument in the other Spammathon.

Pele shits on everyone. Best would have overtaken Pele had he not ****ed it away. Maradona was a twat, great player but a twat. I'd rather an alcoholic like Bestie than a druggie, gangster-loving Argie dwarf like Maradona.

And no love for Di Stefano or Puskas?? Or Stanley Mathews?? Also great players. Amongst the best.

And actually Pele does not shit on everyone....there is one man who no-one has mentioned who was responsible for the brilliance and birth of Brazil as the best footballing nation on Earth and he was also an alcoholic called Garrincha.

Maradona > all.

Wrong. So very, very wrong.

In the 80's when Maradona was at his peak....you had who as truly great players playing at the same period?? Platini, maybe, van Basten for a couple of seasons. When Pele played he was considered the best amongst a list that includes Eusebio, Bobby Charlton, George Best, Franz Beckenbauer, Bobby Moore, heck he even overlapped with Johan Cruyff and guess what, Pele was still considered the best. When judging the greatness of someone, it is only not only the achievements that count (which Pele has won more as well) but who they have as contemporaries. Pele played with and against some of the greatest players ever and was considered the best, Maradona had no competition. It's easier to stand out when there is no-one of qulaity to compare against.

Pele never played good competition save 5-7 games against quality oppo. The game was drastically different in the 50s and before. 6 forwards and the like. I think those Real teams that won the CL would get smashed by a quarter-finalist nowadays.

Dragged a shit Argentina side to a World Cup Final and won it, made Napoli an Italian heavyweight, and produced some of the most entertaining moments in football history. Sheer quality.
