It seems that in the world of professional football,
right backs and left backs are like the hospital
porters compared to the glitzy surgeons nodding
them in up front. Not one of the tireless wing-backs
features in the Top Fifty earners - not even Gary
Neville, who you would think demands money for
breakfast.

Hence, the highest earning XI finds itself having to
go with a 3-4-3 formation, which in modern footballing
terms, is ridiculous. Still, here they are in all their
wealthy glory:

Goalkeeper: Iker Casillas (£114,750/week)

Defenders: Rio Ferdinand (£96,581), John Terry (£130,050),
Sol Campbell (£105,188)

Midfield: Cristiano Ronaldo (£122,400),
Frank Lampard (£130,050), Steven Gerrard (£122,400),
Michael Ballack (£124,313)

Forwards: Kaka (143,438), Ronaldinho (£135,788),
Fernando Torres (£126,225)

Think your rabble could beat them?

Salary doesn't reflect ability don't forget ... ;)

Chelsea now have the added weight of the most ridiculous wage structure I have ever seen !!!

71% of their revenue goes on players salaries !!

Absolute nonsense !!

How can they EVER survive without Abramobitch ?

The Glazers are much smarter business men than he will ever be ...

They introduced a wage cap of 50% of revenue to be spent on player salaries and currently it runs at 43% ... ;)

Now that is GOOD business ... :)

How the hell is Sol Campbell being paid more than Rio?
Rio's wage is wrong. Simple as that.

Ballack more than Ronaldo? That's crazy!
That's because Ballack let his contarct run out at Bayern Munich, meaning
that at the end of it he could sign for any club he wanted, it was just a
case of who would offer the biggest signing on fee and the biggest salary.

Chelsea obviously didn't need to pay megabucks for him like their other big
name signings so they offered him a massive salary to convince him to join them.

Same with Campbell, no transfer fee = bigger salary.

I think this shows that money cannot buy you everything in football. Players like Sol Campbell and Michael Ballack are not the best in the world, at least not now anyway, yet are still paid higher than better players.

Money doesn't instantly mean sucess and the best players.
