I'm usually never too optimistic but i've been watching us play excellent football this season. In my opinion better than in the last five years. If you consider consistancy. We caned our UCL group and we are doing excellent in the premiership.

We've had one bad game against Bolton. But we've defeated Chelsea and Liverpool fairly comfortably.

Defence - Solid
Midfield - Solid
Attack - Solid

Our squad looks... complete in my opinion. Perhaps lacking a striker, i'm confident though we'll sign somebody. Hopefully that new boy we got today will be good.

So i'm just going to say it. I've got a strong feeling we will make the UCL final this season. Perhaps even win it. AC are stuttering in their league. Inter imo havn't got the depth like us to see out the competition. That really just leaves the English clubs and Real / Barca.

We can defeat anyone on the way. We've shown that this season against Chelsea and at Liverpool. Real aren't the side they were 3/4 years ago and i think lack the experience and manager for UCL success.

Its on the cards people! Its definately our best shout since 99 of winning it.

Really, I can't find any weaknesses in our best starting-XI. But if I must find, then it will be our right-back slot. Gazza is turning 33,Wes Brown isn't a top-class defender, & Danny Simpson is rather inexperienced.......purchase a top-class right-back,(for eg. Philipp Lahm), & I can guarantee emulating the treble success in 1999will be very likely. Tho I may be greedy & ask for another striker. I believe Wayne Rooney & Carlos Tevez r simply fabulous. But,their back-up Louis Saha,is injury-prone, while Dong......need I add any further? If one of Tevez or Rooney gets injured, who's gonna replace them? In 1999,we hve gt Teddy Sheringham,Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as back-up to Andrew Cole & Dwight Yorke! Sell them both & get Karim Benzema instead, who has scored 36 goals in 55 games for Lyon in total,as a back-up to Rooney & Tevez.

We should certainly not complain
about ANY team at this stage of
the competition - if we can't beat
the teams like Lyons then we don't
deserve to win the Champs League
- simple as that.

We had our best ever chance since
'99 of winning it last year against
an ageing AC Milan side - and blew it.

I'd like to see Liverpool and Arse win
- because we have shown already
this season we can take care of both
these sides.

Arsenal managed a draw at The
Emirates and celebrate like they win
the World Cup !!!

They are scared of United !!!

And Liverpool.....

Well we played with them like they
were a toy.

Maybe i missunderstood you.. Or maybe you've been drinking tonight?

Did you mean to say "I'd like to see Liverpool and Arse win"?
I don't drink alcohol so
no drinking for me :p

Yes United seem to get
problems even with a
bunch of old gits like
AC Milan last year.

But I feel very confident
we can beat Arse and
Pool no problem !!

So I'd rather we faced
them as opposed to these
teams from Italy and Spain
who seem to have the
measure of United so many
times.

Be more fun too to dump
them both out - think of the
fun we can have with The
Scousers then....................

If we don't beat Lyon we won't win it anyway, deserving or not! :D
Lyon will be the first real test, lets be honest our group wasn't exactly a challenge.

United did not blow it, we had an injury ridden team! That is not United's fault! This year United have more depth in the squad. United showed what they could do against Ac Milan in the first leg last season, If United have pretty much an injury free squad - I think the possibilities are great.

Lyon are a strong team, especially in the French league. In Europe they are strong but haven't got a lot to show for it!

United's record in Italy is nothing great.

Look at our French records.

Marseille 2-1w,0-1L
Monaco 0-0D,1-1D
Montpellier 1-1D, 2-1w
Lyon 2-2D, 2-1w
Nantes 1-1D, 5-1w
Lille 1-0w, 1-1D, 0-0D, 0-1L, 1-0w, 1-0w
Bordeaux 2-0w, 2-1w

2 defeats!

I agree with AG. The treble was ours for the taking. Its just came April and 4/5 of our best XI got injured. We begun to struggle in the league and of course got smashed in the San Siro.

This year SAF added 4 very talented players to the united machine so this wouldn't happen again. Unless United go on a very bad injury spree come march/april, the UCL or even the Treble will have Manchester United's name on it.

I think our biggest competitors for CL are Real,Barca and Milan, they are all teams that are used to wining and have always been major forces in CL.Barca and Milan have the last two titles to prove that and even tough Real didnt win CL in the last couple of years they are really strong this season and look really good.We can beat all of them but anything can happen in two games, let's hope no one get's injured and then we'll have a real chance of doing something this season.

Its too hard to call at this stage. As Richard said our squad is the strongest its been for ages and we have a great chance to get to Moscow.

My only concern is that some of these tight games are decided by a piece of luck or a mistake by the ref. Or a team could have an off day and be knocked out or a player gets sent off. All these things define outcomes of important games so I think its a coin flick between 5/6 teams. It just depends what happens on any given day.

I predict we will win the league but I can only predict we do well in the CL.
Too hard to call in my eyes.
