United look to close gap at the top

PREDICTIONS:

Skysports.com's prediction: 0-3

Bet on Saturday's match

Manchester United have the opportunity to close the gap on Premier League
leaders Arsenal to one point when they host Derby on Saturday.

With Arsenal not playing Middlesbrough until Sunday, a three-point haul for
United would see Sir Alex Ferguson's side move to within striking distance of the
Gunners.

However, Derby will be desperate to at least score their first away league goal of
the season in new manager Paul Jewell's second game in charge.

Ferguson is not expected to give Gary Neville his first senior game since
recovering from injury and Wes Brown is set to continue at right-back.

Disappointment

Owen Hargreaves - who appears to have shaken off the tendonitis problems
which hampered his early season - is expected to continue in his central midfield
role, while Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher are battling for a place.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo will be keen to put his disappointment at missing
out on the 2007 Ballon d'Or behind him as he looks to continue his fine goal
scoring form this season.

Bottom of the league Derby have shipped 20 goals on their league travels this
season and Jewell is hoping a flu bug does not take hold of his squad ahead of
the trip to Old Trafford.

Defender Claude Davis and winger Gary Teale have both been laid low this week,
although the duo were able to train on Thursday.

Andy Todd continues to struggle with a long-term back problem, while another
defender in Marc Edworthy is doubtful with a calf injury.

Manchester United 1/10, Draw 8/1, Derby 25/1
