Agreed RD. International football isnt half as good as it used to be. There are no particularly amazing teams in world football right now, especially in Europe. Even the top2 Brazil and Argentina have shown their frailties in recent tournaments. We saw Greece win the last Euros which was a joke. Who knows who will win the Euros next year. People are saying Germany, Spain, Portugal or Holland but all these teams can be beaten on any given day. Whoever wins it will win it because of luck or a bad refereeing decision. Its always the wayRed Devil said:I can recall when Englands players were selected from the top half dozen teams in the country and invariably did well as a consequence, most of the time.
BUT now, they are having to even look at top teams in the Championship League because of the lack of suitable talent in the foreign player riddled Premier League.
The same is happening to Germany & France and others - they have too many foreign players in their leagues and as a direct result, no decent players to pick from. International players today are of a much lower standard than in previous years and would not grace a national shirt ordinarily.
The standard is simply not there anymore. Some of you will quite possibly see an asian team or african team win the world cup!!
