Talking to a mate during the night and we came up
with a strange thought......

" Is SAF the only unsackable manager in the history of football" ?

Forget about thoughts of his retirement, sadly it will happen one day and all agree he will retire, nor who will replace him, but could SAF ever be sacked ?

What would it take for him to be sacked ?
Who would be brave enough to sack him ?
The board ? The Glazers ?

Is Fergie bigger than the club or is United bigger than Fergie ?

If everything went wrong this season, and the next, would SAF
still be unsackable ?

If he were to be sacked...how would it affect United and our supporters ?

First of all, to say that fergie is unsackable is a wrong way to put it in. during the three yrs between 2003 and 2006, we had won nothing but a league cup and fa cup, but was fergie under real pressure from the supporters to step down? i dun think so, maybe he was under more pressure than ever to deliver more trophies to the club, but never the pressure of being sacked, because we all have faith in him, after all, he is what the modern Manchester United is all about. we believe he has the ability to come back and win the league for man utd, for the supporters again. we also believe he will only do what would benefit the club and when the time is right for him, and when he does not think he can provide anymore to the club again, we believe he would do the right thing.

i definitely think that the club is far bigger than fergie himself, but i also think that there is nobody in the club who is bigger than fergie. the respect he gained over 20 years in man utd means that he has the authority in the club to affect everyone, every decisions made by the club. it may sounds like dictatorship, but the only reason this dictatorship has been working for 20 years is that we have the right man doing the job.

If everything went wrong this and the following season, i still believe that fergie has what it takes to take the club back to where it should be. but again, the only person who has the power to make fergie quit is himself.

When the day comes when fergie called it a day, it would be a sad sad day for utd, everyone who is connected to the club. at the current present, there is no one able to replace him.

If there were ever a Special One, fergie would the one.

What makes me confused ... is the betting on the next manager sacked ...

Not on here but at the real bookies ... ;)

Fergie is the most succesful manager ever to live ...

And yet despite this Arsene Wenger is always 100/1 to be sacked ...

And Fergie at 66/1 ... ;)

Alex would/will never be sacked by United, simply because of the adoration the
fans and players alike have for the great Scotsman. Argueably, Manchester United
would be no where near, where they are noe had that man been sacked when
he went his frst seven seasons winning nothing at all. In fact almost every United
fan believes that he was one defeat away from it once.

I couldn't imagine the board sacking him, fior a number of reasons.

  • He is the figure head of United
  • Everybody loves him
  • How likely is it he'll go on a terrible loosing streak?
  • The club owes him, not the other way

If, he ever did have a barren run, he still wouldn't be sacked, if anything he'd
walk.

So th answer the above question, yes, I think Fergie is the only un-sackable
manager in football.

he is unsackable.....he has been doing great things at united and he is still hungry for more cups....he has made what united are today....the BEST!!!!! only a manager like rafa who does everything to try and improve the team and fails should be sacked...SAF dosent need to be sacked...he doesnt deserve it....and if glazers are in a fight with united i sure all the players and fans will have something to say.... :D

Yeah Fergie is most definitely unsackable.

Wenger also has so much support from the boardroom despite not having much success in recent years.

Also, I believe Steve Coppell, unless he leaves Reading, will become unsackable.

Madjeski is a great chairman, Coppell a very good manager with a good team.

No manager is unsackable, but Sir Alex comes close to the term.He has saved us from relegation on two occasions, led us to a history-making treble and assisted United into making the biggest and most well-known club on Earth. For me,no one is dark enough to sack him

he is the definition of unsackable, no one on earth has the guts to sack him, imagine what will happen if he gets sacked, all hell would break loose, and i dont think he would ever do anything to deserve getting sacked, he is just too good of a manager to get sacked, he is in my opinion the greatest british manger of all time. He is with out a doubt so far man utds most important person, he is the mastermind for arguably this clubs most succesful era, so basically he is without a doubt unsackable.
