When he was originally signed, I heard he made a statement along the lines of "I would walk from Moscow to play for Manchester." Is this true? Does anyone have a link to a story that might state this? Thanks.

When the United transfer was rumoured in December 2005, Vidić told a Serbian newspaper: "If I'm called to Manchester, I'll walk there!"

Not a definite quote but it's on UEFA's site, nonetheless. You'd best search for Serbian newspapers that might carry the quote.
