West Ham to bid £10m for Saha?

West Ham Set to Replace Ashton with £10m Manchester United Striker

After reporting on Sunday that West Ham's Dean Ashton could be poised to jump on the district line final - destination White Hart Lane -such a move now seems all the more probable after the Hammers line up a bid for Manchester United's Louis Saha.

Saha has only played a handful of games after the plague of injuries he has had since signing for United continued this season. After having a knee op last summer, the Frenchman has endured several setbacks during the course of the season. He's featured in just 24 matches across all competitions and only made the starting XI on 10 occasions in games against such teams as Sunderland, Bolton and Fulham and himself admits the sun is likely to set on his time at Old Trafford following the Champions League final.

With just five goals to his name, it is a wonder whether he's the best option for the Hammers. Finishing the season will a goal difference of -8, Alan Curbishley needs to add reliable firepower is they are to continue moving in the right direction. However, if we're being positive, some of the goals Saha netted were crucial in United success in retaining the title; he got the winner against Sunderland at the start of September setting the Reds back on the winning tracks after that disastrous start.

I can't help but wonder if by drafting Saha in as a replacement for Ashton Alan Curbishley is setting himself up for similar problems as he had this time. The Hammers have had the worst luck in terms of injuries this season; Ashton himself damaged knee ligaments and missed six weeks worth of matches. With Saha set to celebrate his 30th birthday this August and with his lack of regular first time football, is he going to make that much of a difference at Upton Park?

Good news. Saha is a good player when fit......

Amazing. Really the replies are just amazing! So instead of hoping he gets back to full fitness and if he does move, hoping he has good luck and wishing him luck - we have fans here mocking and laughing at him and his transfer fee...

Maybe I am the only one on here but no really I wouldn't mind if we kept hold of him and help him fullfill his full potential because we all know when his fully fit and on form he is as good as Torres or Ruud or Henry as he proved last season when he played like each game till he got injured in Decemeber...even some of my scouse mates think his got class when he plays and he indeed is a very elegant player and a 10m transfer fee is a good deal imo for west ham...so a 2 time winning epl champions and a possible CL winner and a league cup winner and a french international striker is getting sold maybe for 10m and pepople are laughing...why? Just because he is injured? Oh please, thats life and apart of football and everyone gets injured but that is no reason to laugh or to say he does not deserve that much cash in transfer fee...look at Solskeajr, he was injured quite fair bit in the end of his career but his still class and for me even Kewell is world class like he proved in the 2006 World Cup on the world stage and he is always injured so what...?

My point is, seriously people stop the hating and mocking and get behind him and hope he recovers from the injuries and hope he can get his career back on track. Hate me if you all want but Saha will always be an awsome player in my eyes lol

sparkic - if Saha was a young lad then I would agree that we should try and help him get over his injury worries because we could still get the best out of him but he's 30 in August. He's already passed his prime and is injury-prone. £10m would be a ridiculously good offer for him and I would accept the bid without hesitation.

sparkic - surely 3 years is enough time to wait ?

How long do you suggest we wait now ?

Another month, a year or maybe 3 more years ?

I once said he would get off the bench to warm up and get an injury ...

Of course I was joking ... having a little dig at him ...

Two weeks later he did it !!!

He got off the bench ... ran 50 metres and pulled up injured !!!

That was it for me ... enough is enough now ...

Take the £10,000,000 !

- sparkic. the point is he CANNOT be fit. He just can't1 He hasn;t been fit for a whole season in his entire United career. Other players pick up an injury and are back in 4-6 weeks.

Saha breaks a finger nail and is out for 4-6 months. What's the point?
There comes a time when you have to make a management decision - the Americans would say 'fish or cut bait'.

For Saha, the time has come to cut bait.

Nobody hates him, but we have a right to have a joke about him. He has used up all the reasonable support he is entitled to. He would have to be a legend like Solskjaer or Cantona to deserve any more support than he has already got.

He is a liability.

Of course he can play, but he is a liability. From a planning perspective, it is impossible to plan another season with Saha in the team, because his fitness cannot be relied upon. it is nobody's fault, it's just the way it is.

We wish him well and if we get half of the reported 10mil, I would be delighted!

West Ham really must be stupid, but for £10 Million, hell why not. You'd think they'd know better considerin how many injured players they've had.
I'd be sorry to see Saha leave. He could have been something great, had it not been for those injuries.

+1. Run very far away. Spend that money on Fabiano or Huntelaar. When I first saw this thread, before I even opened it, I was thinking "take the money and run". If this is true, I'd almost feel sorry for West Ham, but they know what they're getting themselves into.
