Ronaldo is one of the world best players this season & has a time to reach his full potential he is only 22 but in order to reach that level what skills do you think he has to improve ? In my opinion there is only 2 skills should be improved

1- strength
2- Passing

It may sound critical but I think he needs to improve quite a few features of his game. As a pro I think he is always looking to improve things, thats why he trains so hard. Anyway he needs to improve his:

1. Free kick taking-he misses so many. When his unique style works it really works but he blasts most of them in the stands or the wall.

2. Defensive side of his game needs much improving. He does so much going forward and he thinks he has a right not to bother tracking back. You rarely see Ronnie making a tackle. Do you?

3. Attitude. He has improved on this massively this season, especially after the world cup episode, but sometimes he goes missing in games and seems like he is uninterested or pissed off with his team mates.

4. Shooting- Just like fat frank lamps he shoots as soon as he gets a sniff of goal. Its probably why they score so many but he still misses the target too much for my liking.

5. Big game temperament- Against Milan, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool he went a bit missing this year. We know ronnie is class, he does it against most teams but when we really need him to come up trumps when it counts (EC semi vs Milan and FA cup final in particular) he doesnt deliver. I know Im sounding like a critical bastard but its what I believe.

6. Crossing- Not that he is bad at crossing but he is no Beckham. He is a good crosser but there is still improvement to be made.

I could probably go on and pick at every aspect of his game. We all know ronnie is class and at 22 is one of the best in world football. He still frustrates sometimes but not half as much as he excites. Even Giggs and Scholes state that they are still improving and looking to improve. No one is perfect and everyone has many aspects that need improving. That is my point really.
He is going to be THE best one day and in the mean time he will have us all on the edge of our seats.

Ronaldo

I think Ronaldo has really improved since joining Utd. I guess what he has to work on is his vision on the pitch, that killer pass instinct which players like Zidane and Dennis Bergkamp had. He has a very large arsenal of skill and he can learn to release the ball at the right moment.

But hey, on current form he is amongst the top 2 best players in the world.
Its scary to imagine what he'll become if he fulfills his full potential. Opposition defences, beware

passing-tends to miss the pass when its on, someone will make the effort to get to the space and he just keeps the ball instead, wastes others energy which is unfair on the team, if he wants to reach zidanes heights he has to learn to pass the ball even if he doesnt want to.

He needs to have team work. I think he is somehow selfish and always want to shine than other players. Its not good for the team

Have you been watching the same football as everyone else?!? Attitude??? I think last season we saw a player with massive skill who has become a true team player!! All of the Manchester United players say how much of a team person he is. Shooting?!? You cannot possibly start to comare Ronaldo to Fat Frank. As Eric The King has recently said, he loves Ronaldo because he reminds him of himself, if he had a 51% chance of scoring, he shot, however, if a team mate had a 51% chance of scoring, then he passes. This is how Ronaldo played last term. I think you are right about him going missing a little bit in big games though, but this will come with age and experience. After last season, I dont think this is going to be much of an issue anymore. And crossing, you are right a bit, he aint becks....but who is!?!? Becks is one of the best crossers of the ball EVER!!! You'll be waiting a long time to get another becks(in him prime anyway). But what Ronnie does do is put in some superb low driving crosses into the box. But we've been missing a true goal poacher since Van-Nistlerooy had to go. If we can get Tevez in then he will sit in the box and convert those low crosses.

I do agree with you, he is still improving, and he will one day be the best. But as the old saying goes, genius borders insanity. I think we will just have to get used to the fact that he will frustrate us sometimes. Take it away and he wouldnt be the Ronnie that we love so much!!

Oh, and I agree with the free kick taking and defenseive side that you mention.

It sounds like you are agreeing with most of what I said. I know I was being very critical in what I said but its my opinion. His attitude has come on a hell of a lot but I was tying it in with his big game temperament which he sometimes lacks. As for the shooting, I take your point about Eric, but he still fires so many wide. I was comparing him to Frank because they both shoot when they get a sniff but over the years Lampard has scored buckets of goals from shooting outside the box. Its just something I think Ronnie could work on. I appreciate your point though.

I think the general consensus is that Ronaldo has come on a long way but the most common irritants/things they would like to see changed are the free-kicks and the often self-indulgent shooting from outside the box. I fully agree that he tends to go missing in big games bit I think a partial factor in that is that the likes of AC and Chelsea etc tend to have better players to mark him and the difference is that their plan to stifle him works a hell of a lot better than say Bolton's or Fulham's. Still a fair bit of it is in his head but after last season I for one would definitely back him to stand up a bit more in key games.
