A lot of you would keep an interested eye on how Roy is getting on.

What do you think he needs to do to keep his team up, as in who he could sign etc...

I heard today Walcott might be available on a loan deal surely a master stroke would be to snap him up!! his signings have seemed pretty poor in the January window... (and in general apart from Kenwyne, Gordon, and possibly Richardson)

any realistic suggestions to our (former) hero to keep his team up!

(maybe this should be football banter, sorry guys)

He's signed a lot of players from the Championship and hoped they could take the step up.

I think it's important for him to buy players with Premier League experience if he wants to stay up - easier said than done though.

I think Keane's Sunderland are a lot better than their league position suggests.
Derby are as good as down and Fulham will need to go on a serious run to escape trouble but there are ONLY 2 points between 6 teams so it will be a tight relegation battle.

Out of these teams I think Sunderland are the best of them.
Wigan, Boro and Reading look poor. Bolton and Brum are doing better under new management but are still in danger. Fulham who are 5 points behind are having a disaster of a season.

Anelka will be a huge loss to Bolton and Boro could be losing Downing and Woodgate in the transfer market which will cripple them.

Keane has been unlucky with injuries to key players this season. His captain Whitehead is the heartbeat of the team and Edwards was immense last season.
He will have them back available and he has bolstered his team this january already.

Signing Evans and Bardsley will give him good defensive options as well as the young french lad he signed. He also brought in a Swedish striker though I dont know anything about him. The jury is out but we have to wait and see.

We need to remember that Keane is new to the job and still learning. If he keeps them up this season (which he will) they will just go from strength to strength in future seasons.

I have the confidence that Keane will pull it off. he wont expect anything less than 100% and they will never give up battling. If they can go on a small run and win against the teams around them, Im sure they can move up the table and away from danger.

Cmon Sunderland!!!!!!

ya he has been really unlucky with whitehead, edwards and richardson all having been injured, meant there was no imagination in midfield, it looks like hes gotten them winning at home now and that will keep them up, but as jazz said there its a matter of sunderland being better than a very poor bunch of strugglers this year!!

hope they do it!!

I ACTUALLY MADE A THREAD ON KEANO'S SIGNINGS AT THE BEGGINING OF THE SEASON AS I THOUGHT HE HADN'T SPENT WELL AND IM AFRAID I'VE BEEN PROVED RIGHT... (sorry it's caps this bit didn't realize i had done it till i typed it, can't be arsed typing it again.. although i probally could of done with the amount of time it's took to type this to tell that i'd done it)

i don't think it's through lack of trying tho i think a lot of quality players have turned him down (the area doesn't help sunderland is a shit hole) but he needed numbers in before the start of the season so he turned to guys who he knew who had played with him.

he needs to keep them in the prem this season (obviously) then he might be able to add some real quality next season ( maybe they will be willing to commute a long way. lol) and they can get rid of some of there players who just havn't performed this season and been found wanting.

i have to say i was really suprised at how many players turned them down pre season given (not shay) roys stature in world football. i thought players would be champing at the bit (whatever that means) to play for the great man.

when robbo left united and joined boro he too had plenty of money to spend but he was able to get real quality players in coz of his stature in the game not only did he bring in ravanelli who was one of the top strikers in europe at the time and had just won the champions league the season before. he also brought in emerson a brazilian international and juninho also a brazil international and the brazilian player of the year that year. and yes boro is more of a shit hole than sunderland (although it's close) so why keano couldn't god only knows...

but on the bright side if he can get richardson edwards and jones to stay fit they have a chance of staying up...but i'd have to disagree with jazz (wow twice in one night.. i usually agree with him) i think boro and reading are miles better teams

Keane has done all right but his team that came up was never going to do well in the Prem; he needs to concentrate on consolidation and rebuild for next season. He has got to be looking at least at just below half way after next year.

ya i agree i was really surprised more players werent dying to be mentored by this true legend!!! fact is the likes of Nugent etc werent willing to put the work in expected by roy!! they just want to stroll thru their careers and players like that will never be top drawer!!!

i think walcott could bring something, his pace is unnatural!!!

*cough cough* hmmmmm

great win tonight without Richardson and Edwards.
The new Swedish striker looks a great buy. Got a debut goal and could have had 1/2 more. Sunderland now up to 14th (Yes thats 14th:) )
I just love it when Im right
