i have supported utd for 33 years and they have been bad and great over this span of years.
utd have always battled and played with their heart , even in our bad days we performed against our big rivals.
between the years 1992-2002 utd really had the WOW factor we played some amazing flowing football and were really hard to match ,we didn't always win trophies but the team would give everything in their attempt to win , even the opponents expected utd to score a late winner and utd regulary took advantage and scored it.
now you might think i am a little crazy with this remark but we have lost the WOW factor ,even over the last 3 seasons {2 leagues and a champions league} yet the WOW factor rarely shows itself .before every game we get wound up hoping to see a vintage display in true utd fashion but i am left dissapionted on so many occasions by the sheer lack of passion amongst this team.
only 2 players make me stand up and really shout and they are ronaldo who has carried us for 2 seasons ,and rooney who is either red hot or cold .without these 2 players utd don't really have any attack minded options its all a bit gung ho and this season is certainly confirming it.
we used to be the most exciting team to watch but arsenal and chelsea are both better these days and liverpool are matching us ,i know i will be told i am talking nonsense by a lot of you guys and most of those will be from the younger fans who never saw the WOW factor .and all i can say to those guys is get the season reveiws from 93-96 and these will really show you what i am talking about and show you how boring most of our team has become.

I don't know about the wow factor, but i think we lost our ability to comeback in a match. We've always had that ability to score late goals. I'm not so sure about the statistics, but it seems to me that the last gasp winners have dried out recently.

Not a single game we played this season can be billed as 'exciting'. It's either we playing in our third gear and winning games or we not showing up at all. It may be due to lack of inspirational personalities in the pitch. I just don't know, we're just not as exciting as we used to be.

thats entirely what i mean we are not exciting any more and it has been become more and more boring over the last 3 seasons .there are some games that i watch live on tv when i pick the newspaper up because it is that tedious .
to say we are playing in third gear is just making excuse's {i know i used to say it} , the stoke result was the first time we demolished a team for quite some time .we used to do that on a regular basis and our big rivals in the premiership win games comfortable most weeks while we struggle .and we have not strung 3 good displays together for a long long time ,comments are made about the crowd not getting behind the team ,i believe some of utds displays have put them to sleep .

We haven't got a bloody late winner since O Shea at Anfield 2 years ago, that is too long, we used to do it for fun. I knew once 85 mins hit yesterday, we wouldn't score. that is quite disappointing.
We do score late vital goals

Tevez at Blackburn.
Tevez at Lyon.
Tevez at Tottenham.

All vital late goals which made us win the double. Without those three goals we would have been trophyless last season.

I think we expect to be wowed on a regular basis these days and get miffed when it doesnt happen .

i think part of the problem is we now build a team around doing the business in the champions league and that has bought a move away from traditional 4-4-2 .

and other than ronaldo the team doesnt have a good header winner .

look back and yorke bruce sheringham et al all nicked us wins with late headers .

i think this year we have missed scholes badly and other midfielders have yet to get any sort of run going in the side .

in many ways though its typical fergie stuff ie get players ops done before xmas and hope for a fully fit squad for last 5 months of the season .

Also we can NEVER hit a decent corner since 99 final....funny really as we seem to get about 10 on average in a game.
Yes, because Beckham just magically became **** overnight

It's been more of a problem since Beckham left.

Although, I like Nani taking them.

Are you serious??? Nani is the pitts at corners!! Carrick is the one who should be over there, giggs does my chuffin head in,can NEVER get it past first man:mad:
Nani was good at them last season. Pace and power on them.

Giggs never gets past first man, I agree.

We lack a specialist.

Maybe the lads are bit on a low these days. IMO it could be thier tactics, it could be the lack of leadership on the pitch (fair play to Giggsy and Rio though)...or anything else we can think of.

I think the player have to be constantly reminded that we're playing in a new season. The shadow that was 07/08 still lingers them. I may be wrong on some quarters, but for me it's all too evident, especially when they were up vs. Everton, Arsenal, 'Pool and now Villa. The lads need more motivation and faith in themselves.

hmmm i can sorta see where your coming from with this wow factor. but i think to say its completly gone is harsh. giggs the other week at celtic a few overs mentioned from last season and ronaldo at fulham two seasons ago. we are just going through a dry patch like the start of last season. havent found gear yet. but not all is lost we have a game in hand and chels and liverpool will drop points. we must ensure we do chelsea in jan. long way for wows as yet

but i see your point, you miss ole popping up or a beckham free kick or cantona drilling it through the scousers. or hughes to hit impossible angles. but ronaldo can do all 4 of them so its not completly gone. Tevez is lacking so much confidence and i cant give you an answer for wayne his just so odd in form consistancy never seen it before lol and berba is only playing when everyone else is. doesnt make the effort to change a game.

so yeah there is concern but theres also hope so im not worrying just yet. think were doing fine
