Chelsea may be for sale

Chelsea aren't keen on handing boss Luiz Felipe scolari any cash to spend in the impending January transfer window.

Like everyone else, the capital club has been affected by the frightening state of the global financial climate. Naturally, though, the sting of such worries takes has more ridiculous complexion at Stamford Bridge than anywhere else.

Reports suggest that billionaire Russian owner Roman Abramovich will have to choose to sell either the club or his £200 million mega yacht, Pelorus. In fact, he has allegedly sounded out buyers for the club already, hinting that the boat may be too dear to his heart.

According to Russian press agency Prime-Tass - who source an expert in football finance and, for some reason, someone of standing in German football - Abramovich's fortune has dwindled from €16.7 billion (£13.2bn) to €2.3bn (£2.25bn).

The giant yacht apparently has a couple of helipads and an anti-missile system to fend off pirates - a job given to skipper John Terry at the Bridge.

Further reports in Russia hint at the practical affect which the crisis is having on Chelsea. For instance, apparently the players are paying for their own lunches.

Seriously affected by the world financial crisis, Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich is thinking of selling either Chelsea or his luxury yacht "Pelorus".
Assets depreciation and another effects of the world financial crisis might have reduced Roman Abramovich's personal fortune from €16,700 million to €2,300 million, according to Russian news agency Prime-Tass.

This is the current scenario for the Russian tycoon, who must made a decision: either he puts Chelsea for sale (he invested more than €210 million since July 2003, including the team's debts) or he sells his yacht, which is said to cost some €200 million.

The press published statements from an expert in financial transactions in soccer and former manager of two teams from Germany; according to him, "rumors about selling Chelsea started spreading in November" and Abramovich "is looking for a broker to lead the transaction."

Meanwhile, cuts in budget are already in force at Chelsea: 15 managers were fired (they earned €156,000 total per year)and no more free meals for the players at the cafeteria, according to Russian TV channel "Vesti-24".

he got so much money, where r these debts coming from????

Global economy crisis. When you buy a club just to show how rich you are and spend millions and millions for example the wright-phillips case than you should have a pretty good idea why these debts have occurred.

Its looking pretty grim down at Chelsea no money to spend .

Rumours of Players wanting to leave .

Abramovich in finance problems.

The huge wage bill.

Stroppy players.

And a side that looks past its sell by date.

And the biggest problem Abramovich is no longer the richest in the game . Something rich people hate more than anything.

Rumours a starting he is going to sell up but who will buy a club with the biggest wage budget in the world. Not only that a club that does'nt make enough money to cover the bills .

Chelsea have no identety no sole this is a club that before the takeover where a nothing club in world football .

The power status in London stood like this

1. Arsenal
2. Tottenham
3. West Ham
4. Chelsea

This club was a mere 4 choice london club who had a small ground and no that much money .

So if you look at it like that unless they sell to another billionair how the hell will they finance all these wages ?

They wont they will sell all there best players and the club will crumble into Leeds like standard .

So come on Roman we are all waiting for you to go . I want this Football club who changed the face of football to greed and dishonesty to fall to there feet .

Whats your view ?

Why the change of heart DAVE, Nice to see you back.
Ya I think if Chelski lose Rom, they will seriously struggle, not immediately, but in 3-4 years, when the likes of Terry and Lamps are passed it, as well as Deco,Carvalho, Drogba, Ballack and others... Hope it happens.Lol.
