Any funny stories ? I scored own goal once.. Then my team mate (goalkeeper) said 'hey you are not defender , you play far away from our goal as a winger forward, how can you did it? What are you looking for here? Go your position and never come back!

Yes, I do. In South-East Asia high-school, we refer 13-14 years old as 'C' Division, 15-16 years old as 'B' Division & 17-18 as 'A' Division. As I'm 15 years old this year, I play in the 'B' Division. When I'm in 13-14 years old, I used to play for 'C' Division.
There's two tournament in Singapore for Inter-School Competition. Firstly, there's the Zonal competition. It means only schools located in the Northern part will take part in the North Zone, Eastern part in East Zone, Southern part in South Zone & Western part in West Zone. For me, my school's situated in the eastern part, thus I participate in the 'East Zone Cup Tournament'. Next, there's the 'Singapore National Cup Tournament', which is schools from the top 8 of each zone will participate in. As my school finished third in the league of east zone, we play in the national tournament where we were knocked out by the eventual champions 4-3 on aggregate during the quarter-final stage. Btw, the 'East Zone League; is in a league format of 20 teams, while the 'Singapore National Cup Tournament' is in a format identical as the Uefa Champions League. My natural position is a deep-lying forward/supporting striker. Last season, I amassed a fine tally of 19 goals in 38 games while coming in second in the assists chart with 13 assists, 1 short from the player with most assists. ;)

I play footy for SPENCERS WOOD. Were in the South Chiltern Minor League in the u17 level, last one before mens league. My team are kinda shit, but I'm top scorer =] Been playing for about a year now, advanced bucketloads. Yeah I have played against some football stars, but there ones for the future :p Reading, where I'm from, has one of the best youth academies in the UK and a guy in the year below me has played for England u16's! Abdulay Baggi, watch for him! Also know a handful of guys in the academy.

Funny Story? I went in goal against the best team in Berkshire and broke two fingers and got knocked out.

great topic carly.
Football is my life...I think playing it is more pleasurable than watching it, even a great United game.

I captain/manage my astro park team. Its amateur. We just won(winter league) the top league in Tallaght but got knocked out in the playoffs.

I play as the sweeper/last line of defence. I model my game on Vidic and Hargreaves.
Im ALWAYS injured though so this new league which started last week will probably be my last competitively.

We lost our first game and our second is tonight, though Im injured and cant play :-( Ill be out with the team so Ill be missing the second half of the Pompey game. thats dedication for ya ;-)
One lad on my team has 2 caps for Ireland Under16. He has played against Wes Brown and Richie Dunne, and my mates say Im better than him
thats enough of me blowing my own trumpet....

My team is called The Ginnets (which is a cross between an ass and a mule) :)

If you're always injured, then maybe you model your game too much on Saha? :p

i used to play centre forward for my school team and my town team in greater manchester up until i was 14 then i was expelled from 3 schools in the space of 6 months... at which time i met mr cider and mr tobbaco and started chasing the birds. from then on i stopped playing at a competetive level...although i still played on the streets with my mates (heads and volleys)

i used to play in the same school team as micheal clegg who played for manchester united he was a midfielder for us but played right back for united he was more a squad player than regular i don't know if any of you remember him? he played quite a few games for united in the nineties. now i think he's a coach at sunderland? he moved to oldham from us but he career was cut short, i'm not to sure why

i also played for a prison team when i was sent down years ago (when i was 16) it was an under 18s prison and we used to play in a sunday league in stoke (obviously thats where the prison was) we used to have an advantage coz we had to play all our games at home coz we couldn't go out of the prison lol

i've always loved football and regret how my younger life went as at 31 i could still be playing at sunday league level (at least) i no longer drink or smoke but after getting stabbed 8 times at 17 and then being struck down with a mysterious disease at 21 with a million to 1 chance of catching i can only just walk never mind run.

now my football life revolves around manchester united and my 8 year old son who plays 4 times a week at grounds all over the place, and in 8 weeks he'll be playing in a tournamount in london against teams from germany, czech republic, usa, and all over the uk. he too is a centre forward and plays for 2 teams our town side and stockport county acadamy and he's banging them in for fun and i can assure you he won't be taking the same route in life i took

great thread carly!

P.S sorry for going a bit of topic i got a bit carried away :)

I haven't played football since I was at school but I thought I'd share the story of my one and only cup final appearance with you.

I was a centre-back at school but was also asked to go in goal if anything happened to our keeper because I seemed to have a handy knack of saving penalties in training.

I was 15 at the time and my instructions from the coach were simple - do not cross the halfway line under any circumstances, don't try anything fancy and if under pressure just boot it! :D

I didn't do a great job because we conceded 2 goals but luckily we scored 2 too! We were knackered at full-time but thankfully there was no extra-time - it was straight to penalties.

The coach called us over to the touchline and that was when he dropped his bombshell. He turned to me and said: "I want you in goal for the penalties." Jesus wept, I nearly crapped my pants.

They won't allow us to change keepers I thought...but they did. Our regular keeper won't want to hand over his gloves I thought...as he handed over his gloves, patted me on the back and wished me luck. Oh s**t, I thought.

They went first and I dived the wrong way for it, we scored, then they scored again after I went the right way but couldn't get my hand to the ball, we scored and then my moment of glory...I got my fingertips to their penalty and pushed it onto the post! Hooray! :)

My joy was short-lived however as our next penalty was missed and I again dived the wrong way for their penalty so they lead 3-2 and then, horror of horrors, we missed again!

If they scored their next penalty it was all over! Their player struck the penalty ferociously, I dived to my right, the ball sailed above me, I heard it smack the crossbar, YES I thought in the split second before I felt the ball hit my backside. I turned around in horror as I watched the ball roll over the line. It had hit the underside of the bar, then me and gone in. :( I couldn't believe it.

We didn't even get runners-up medals!!! Football can be a heart-breaking game at times!

At what level ? I'm currently playing up on the U-16 Seacoast United Academy Team. We have 4 fields sponsored by Nike and we play 5 days a week. The Club is currently ranked 2nd in the United States

Any plans to take it further ? I'm currently rehabbing an injury I got in high school but I am getting back my fitness now. My coach used to play in the premiership and he reckons I could have a spot on the national team if i continue working and producing quality (for the usa).

For how long ? Till I Die :)

Any games against football stars past or present ? I'm currently playing with 3 or 4 kids on the national squad who are real quality. Its awesome training with them.

Comments on my fit body are welcome.
