Ronaldo?
Messi?
Kaka?
Bramble?

Im pretty sure Ronaldo will win the World footballer of the year after the
magnificant season he had but is it a true reflection of who the best really is?

Messi just scored a hattrick yesterday in a friendly but dear lord is this kid
amazing. Check this out:

No need for Ronaldo videos cos we all know what he can do.
Kaka is the reigning best player. Although Milan didnt have the best season
ever, he is still the complete player.

So who is the best?
Im only starting this thread cos I believe Messi is the best in the World.
Anyone agree with me? or is it all about Ronaldo as usual?

Form wise - Ronaldo

Talent wise - Messi

Though Messi's history of injuries in worrying for him. Maybe its because of the growing pills Barca gave him as a kid but every season he seems to be out for a decent spell.

Kaka, while extremely talented, isn't as good as those two IMO, even in 06/07 while he was exceptional in the CL, he was poor in Serie A, wheras Ronaldo was exceptional in the league, and good in the CL.

Ronaldo is the more complete player, but he is easier to mark out of a game.

^ lol

I found this describing the difference of Kaka and Ronaldo, though IMO it applies for Messi, not Kaka:
---
Kaka glides past players as if they aren‘t there; he's as subtle as he is lighting quick. And when Kaka sings, Ronaldo often stutters. The latter's jittery, jinking, dribbling is easier to deal with as a defender. Not easy, by any means, but easier.

To put it another way, marking Ronaldo is about as difficult as dodging bullets. Marking Kaka is like marking the breeze.
----

Switch 'Kaka' with 'Messi' and you have a good description IMO.

I think Ronaldo is the world's best...

Reasoning:

Messi - He is brilliant with the ball, has amazingly quick feet, fast but i think he biggest weakness is height maybe... Even if he were to touch it by someone like Rio i dont think he would be able to get to it unless he made rio fall down. :D Additionally, has anyone noticed how one footed he is? Perhaps it is just because he is left-footed which is uncommon but he seems to go left 8/10 times.

Kaka - Manc, I agree with you that kaka just glides by people; its great to watch him with the ball but i was uninspired when i saw a few of there games this season.

Ronaldo - He is allowed to not really defend... We really play with 3 forwards or rooney and or tevez ends up defending. Man Utd's style of play is the best for ronaldo - thats why i think he struggled for Portugal and i think he will for real madrid (if he goes). But noone can deny his ability to take on players and finish. I think he is the most exciting to watch. When he is playing his game, I dont think anyone is better than him atm.

i agree with that 100% i think ronaldo over the past 2 seasons has been emence but i do beleive messi is a better all round player, but how can you judge there totally different players and as for kaka i think his form has dipped slightly along with his teams

Messi is the best
SR7 is overrated and overloved
40 odd goals in the best league in the world, winning the league, and champions league. In my opinion you can rate him enough mate. If you go to watch United, and just sit and watch Ronaldo warm up it makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. He has an ora than only compares to Cantona from my time going to see United. That aside he is just the best all round player on the planet right now, if he doesnt recieve this accolade then there is something really wrong with the professional game. Ronaldo is the un-disputed best player in the world, end of story.

Messi is amazing without a doubt, but he doesn't have Ronaldo's all round package.

Ronaldo can shoot with both feet, he's amazing in the air, score brilliant free
kicks, goes past players, good crosser of the ball. He has everything and will
rightly be crowned World player of the year.

You weren't saying that when he was banging in the goals, and winning the two biggest prizes possible for "your beloved Man U".

Just because you don't like him (well until he scores again), doesn't mean you can't see how great a player he is.

I hate Gerrard but I don't deny he is a class player.

I can only echo what most have already said

The best player in the world is Cristiano Ronaldo.
The most gifted, is Lionel Messi.

In terms of first touch and ball control it must be Messi.
Let's not forget that Messi is quite deadly at finishing too.

But Cristiano Ronaldo is a more 'complete' player and of course his prolific goal-scoring in the best league in the world is absolutely amazing.

If ever Ronaldo did leave and the Glazers were to allow Sir Alex to splash the cash, he would be a wonderful addition to the squad.

Kaka also has a lot of wonderful qualities, but to be honest, didn't deserve the Ballon d'or. What he did was to turn up in the big matches on the biggest stage, which is something Cristiano didn't do in 06/07.

Otherwise he would have won it.

Im surprised you said that. You say Kaka didnt deserve it, yet he turned up
in all the big games. Surely then he would be worthy? Milan wouldn't have
won the CL had it not been for him. He destroyed us and Celtic as well as
most of the other teams he played.
Ronaldo didnt show up in the 'big' games as such (06/07) so imo didnt deserve
the award. Im sure he will get it this season and it will most certainly be
deserved but for me Messi is the reincarnation of Maradona who is THE
greatest ever. Messi has the natural talent and just pips it for me, although
I do tend to change my mind on this on occasion. ;) but for now
Messi
Ronaldo
Kaka
Bramble

He only turned up in all the big games in Champions League. Maybe in the 2nd Milan derby, but other than that he had a more subdued season in Serie A.

So the question, which I posed my Italian colleague from Milan is whether a player deserves the title of best player in Europe or the world based on the performance in one tournament?
