I have read that Gary Neville will be part of the squad that travels to Middlesbrough. Given the fact that he has only played a few reserve games this year, would you take the chance of playing him during such a crucial part of the season?

IMO, I might think about using him on the bench and giving him a few late appearances, but I would not consider him as a starter (or even a key substitute) for the rest of the season - owing to his fitness and lack of game shape.

No point in splitting up the back four of Rio, Vidic, Evra and Brown at this stage in the season.

Vidic is out for 3 weeks, so it will see O'Shea or Pique coming in.

Wouldn't mind Neville on the bench and coming on to get his match practice up. He could start in the last game against Wigan if it's all sorted by then.

I agree.

After such a long injury lay-off it'll take him a while to get back into the pace of the Premiership - reserve games are nowhere near as intense.

It makes sense to have him on the bench for his experience, and to bring him on for the last 15-20 minutes if we're comfortable, but we are at a critical stage of the season and can't afford to carry any passengers.

There are not enough games left for Neville to get a winners medal, if we retain the Premiership, so I think it would be best to let him get a full pre-season of training behind him before he starts games.

tbh... i dont think he will return this season unless we need him ? but vidic is injured and brown must be Center-back so Possible return ? He's played reserves and is fit ? Its just a matter of when. Gary will be a huge plus. He offers huge mobility in the right flank and the return of a captain is always good. waiting to see him back

Gary Travels with Squad to Boro

Gary Neville will travel with United's first-team squad for the Reds' trip to Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Club captain Neville hasn't featured for Sir Alex's side since March 2007, when an injury against Bolton Wanderers forced him from the field. Neville was plagued by further bad luck when the 33-year-old suffered a series of minor knocks during the recovery process.

“It's been over a year since Gary's last game,†Sir Alex told the UK media at Carrington on Friday. “That isn't easy at his age but what always encouraged us was his enthusiasm to return.â€

Indeed, Neville has impressed in a number of outings for the Reserves in recent weeks, most recently in Monday's 1-1 draw with Newcastle United. Now Neville will return to the North East for the second time in a week as the Reds look to take three vital points off Gareth Southgate's side

Great news IMO! Finally United's 'Captain Courageous', Gazza, is back after a lay-off for approx. one whole year. Would be really glad to see him don the red of Manchester shirt & giving his 100% in every game that we all used to see him play in. Miss all those sweet delivery of his, pin-point crosses whipped into the six yard box with a swing of his boot, the powerful vocal on the pitch that leads the team out to greater success, sheer determination to win back the ball instantly from the opposition, rampaging runs down the right flank & indomitable, never-say-die spirit! Could possibly see him havin' a good, ol' 20mins run out on the pitch against Boro provided United has seal the victory then by at least two clear goals. ;)

Return of g neville

So it looks like were going to bring back gary into the squad are we taking a risk or is full back a position your able to take a risk on now and again . For me i would of prefered gary neville returning next season with a full pre-season behind him . On the other hand if vidic is out for three weeks theres is no one better than gary to play there because wes for me has to go central . give your opinions and you back line for middlesborough

Wednesday is much too an important game to put a non-fot player in.
