"You Can't Win Anything With Kids"

Alan Hansen once famously (infamously) remarked “You can't win anything with
kidsâ€. But how those ‘kids' proved him wrong. But now that these ‘kids' have all
grown up - the question now is “Can you win anything with old players ?â€.

But now only 3 of ‘Fergies Fledglings' are left, Giggs, Neville and Scholes. But still
Fergie shows enduring faith in them by selecting them for yesterdays rather
important game ! Neville of course missed out because of injury but I feel
confident he too would have been chosen.

Both Scholes and Giggs had ‘Indian Summers' to their careers last season with
some inspired performances which had them short listed for the player of the
year award !

Scholes has just returned from injury - played a great game ‘v' Portsmouth
(powered more by adrenalin than fitness I think) but since then he has been off
the pace.

Giggs is still a class player and no doubt he will go on to beat Sir Bobbies record.
But for me he is only half the player he was last year. The years have caught up
to him and to use him as a support striker is madness - he is past it for this.
Yesterday confirms this.

Neville's injury has gone on and on and on and…….well he is still injured after 12
months. Will he ever get back ? I wont be holding my breath.

Just how much do the ‘old timers' have left in them ?

Time to hang up the boots maybe - and let the memories begin !

hmm... ur post is good, and has a point to it.

but i think that scholes and giggs can still be important to the team in terms of experience. Yes, the years have caught up with them, but im sure they have that undying united spirit in them that has carried them all the way throughout the years
Nah, w need the 'old' boys....
They have been there and done in and have the medals to prove it.
You say Scholes has been off the pace since the Pompey game...
but that was just 2 games.....For a man that has been so consistent his entire career you have to allow him time to regain his match fitness. He did miss 3 months or so through a knee injury.

Neville in my mind WILL be back and he will be as effective as he once was.
He is our captain and a leader on the pitch and will be vital to our success on all fronts this season.

As for Giggs, you may have a point to some degree....
He has looked off the boil this season but he deserves more chances.
He has earned that right imo.
I just want him to go on and break Sir Bobby's record and win his 10th and hopefully 11th(to match his jersey number) Premiership medals.

I see the thought behind your thread Carly but I feel these 3 still have lots to offer for this season and beyond. Their experience and quality will shine through.

If things start to get worse for these 3 as the season wears on and into next season, Then maybe we can start thinking of the unthinkable (dropping them)

Lets be positive though, these 3 are virtually legends, who still play, which is practically unheard of.
Long live the 'Old Boys'

In this case, that looks they will win everything with Kids.
Hanson has his head up his arse he has surely eating his words by now:mad:
I can't remember if it was on 'You're On Sky Sports!' or MUTV last night but someone rang in to say that they thought we had lost the derby because we had too many young, inexperienced players on the field.

He singled out Nani and Anderson in particular for spending too much time and energy running around aimlessly.

However, with VDS, Rio, Scholes and Giggs on the pitch (and the likes of O'Shea and Brown not exactly being short of experience) I thought this was a very peculiar comment.

Tevez and Ronaldo are relatively young players but they have both played in the World Cup.

Sometimes I think people look for excuses that aren't even there!!!

Imho, I think this squad has a very good mix of experienced and young players.
